Gannon University Highmark Events Center

Erie, Pennsylvania

Gannon University’s Highmark Events Center underwent a transformative $12 million renovation to modernize and enhance the functionality of this key campus facility. Construction began in December 2023 and was completed in early 2025. Delivered through a design-build approach, the project required close collaboration among design and construction teams to ensure the integration of upgraded systems and architectural enhancements.

Tec Inc. provided full MEP engineering services for the renovation of the Events Center. The mechanical scope involved the complete removal and replacement of the building’s HVAC systems. New rooftop units were installed to increase energy efficiency and improve indoor air quality and occupant comfort. For the plumbing systems, Tec oversaw a full replacement of the existing infrastructure, focusing on high-traffic public rest rooms and athlete locker rooms. The updated systems were designed to support modern usage demands and comply with current accessibility standards. The electrical scope consisted of a complete renovation with new branch circuit panelboards, new lighting and controls throughout, a new fire alarm system, and power and conduit to support the new audio visual and access control systems serving the space.

Tec’s engineering team worked closely with project stakeholders to develop solutions that balanced performance, cost-efficiency, and long-term maintenance. This project exemplified Tec’s expertise in large-scale renovation efforts within active campus environments and reflected our commitment to delivering high-quality, future-ready building systems.
