Kerns Religious Life Center Renovations, Capital University
Columbus, Ohio
This project encompassed improvements to Kerns Religious Life Center, a 24,000 sq. ft. multi-story structure on Capital University’s campus. Tec provided mechanical and electrical engineering to support the new entry addition. The majority of existing building classrooms and support areas received HVAC equipment and control replacements. Additional mechanical engineering included the replacement of existing fan coil units and new make-up/outside air system and temperature controls. Rather than a rooftop unit which needed to be screened from view, two indoor air handlers were utilized. One unit is housed in second floor storage space, and the second unit is located in a lower level storage room and adjacent conference space. New steam to hot water heat exchangers eliminated the need for two new decentralized boilers at the lower level.
