Kaiser Permanente operates redundant data centers on the East and West coasts of the United States. Tec Inc. completed the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design for a major addition and renovation of the East Coast Data Center. The program includes a 40,000 square foot raised floor addition to the existing Data Center. The addition was designed at 30 watts per square foot and was later upgraded to 60 watts per square foot.

The existing Data Center was updated with a building expansion project, UPS replacement project and power upgrade project. Redundancy for the Data Center is at Tier III with ice storage utilized for energy savings and water redundancy. This Silver Spring facility is a hot backup site for Kaiser Corona, California Data Center.
