Hudson Library and Historical Society

Hudson, Ohio

Hudson Library opened a new 2-story, 52,000 sq. ft. facility. Tec Inc. completed the electrical, mechanical, plumbing, technology and lighting design for this project. The building features an energy efficient lighting design utilizing a variety of fixtures that enhance the architectural features and provide visual comfort. Several areas take advantage of daylighting with daylight sensors controlling the illumination. Lighting was designed with visual tasks, building finishes, and character of the spaces in mind. Stacks are illuminated uniformly on the horizontal and vertical planes using a design standard developed by Tec. State-of-the-art technology system pathways featuring a fiber-optic backbone connect the two floors and utilize the latest cabling and networking standards. The library uniquely operates two independent wireless networks. The mechanical system design is environmentally friendly. The chilled water system utilizes a lower chilled water temperature and greater temperature drop in the system to reduce the air handlers, pumps, piping and ductwork sizes, while maintaining comfort. This approach translates into reduced operating and maintenance costs, as well as a significant savings in initial construction cost.
