Natatorium HVAC Assessment and Equipment Replacement, Solon Community Center
Project Details
Solon, Ohio
Client
City of Solon
The HVAC unit that provided the heating and cooling for the Solon Community Center Natatorium had not performed well for a number of years. Tec was engaged to prepare a report of the existing equipment and recommend an economical plan of action to improve heating and cooling of the space. As part of the study, Tec engineers reviewed the 18,000 sq. ft. natatorium’s existing construction drawings and shop drawings, assessed all repairs performed to the equipment, visited the site to review existing equipment, ductwork and air distribution, reviewed BAS trend data available showing the operation of the HVAC in the natatorium, and provided a detailed report outlining recommendations including a construction cost estimate to implement the recommendations. As a result of the report, Tec has been brought back providing MEP engineering under a Design-Bid-Build delivery model to replace the HVAC unit, the indoor pool heating boiler, ductwork modifications in the natatorium and controls. Modifications to the existing curb for the new equipment and review of the electrical power requirements, natural gas, venting, water piping connections and ductwork modifications to the new unit are also included in the scope. Add-on services include the UV water filtration system and a new boiler for the outdoor pool.
